About

A Proper Tournament

Two teams. Three days. One winner.

The Bova Invitational is a private, invitation-only golf tournament held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Two teams compete across all three days on three of the best tracks on the Grand Strand.

Every format — scramble, shambles, best ball, stroke play — feeds the team score. Individual glory exists, but the weekend is decided by which team wins. The field is limited to 24 players and does not run without 16 confirmed.

Format & Rules

Four Formats. One Leaderboard.

Every format rewards a different skill set.

Day 1 — Full 18
Par 3 Stroke Play
Arrive at lunch. Teams selected by captains. Straight onto the par 3 course. Individual stroke play throughout — every score feeds the team total.
Day 2 — Front
Scramble
All players hit from each lie. Team selects best shot and plays from there. Full team format — every stroke feeds the team score.
Day 2 — Back
Shambles
Scramble tee shot only. Each player completes the hole individually from the best drive. Individual scores recorded — all count toward the team total.
Day 3 — Front
Best Ball
Partners play their own ball — lower score per hole counts. Pairs assigned by handicap tier. The team benefits from the stronger partner on every hole.
Day 3 — Back
Individual Stroke Play
Individual stroke play on the final nine — but every score still feeds the team. The back nine decides both the individual champion and the winning team simultaneously.
Every format feeds the team score. Even the par 3 day and the individual back nine on Day Three — every stroke counts for your team. Team Bova is captained by Chris Bova. The opposing captain is set closer to the tournament. The winning team is determined by cumulative score across all 54 holes.
